Overview
The EM RIIA is focused on strengthening the sufficiency and coherence of SEND provision across the region, spanning mainstream, special schools, alternative provision (AP), and independent non-maintained special schools (INMSS). This includes collaborative analysis of current capacity, demand, and commissioning practices to identify gaps and align decision-making across local authorities.
In addition, the region is working to better understand the qualitative impact of contributory services on SEND. This involves evaluating how thresholds are applied, the deployment of specialist staff, and the effectiveness of multi-agency support, to improve outcomes and ensure consistent, high-quality support for children and young people with SEND.
